Today's Makeup Look - Golden Sage

I'm really loving the new L'Oreal Infallible 24HR eyeshadows!  So for this look, I wanted to feature one of my favorite shades from the collection: Golden Sage.  These shadows have a very unique formula that requires a little extra care in application.
Using a stiff shading brush, I applied Golden Sage on the outer 2/3 of my eyelids and blended it up a little into the crease.  I also used some under the outer corner of my lower lid.  For the inner third, I applied a shimmering gold shadow and blended it into the inner corners of my eyes.  I also applied the gold above the sage on my crease and blended it up towards my brows.
I used a pearl white shade to highlight my browbones and finished with brown gel liner and lots of black mascara.  I gave my cheeks a natural flush and used a plum-colored lip tint to complete the look.
(Sorry for the poor lighting. I'm still working on that)

Today's Makeup Look - Orange Fall Look

I haven't done a TokyoChel Look in forever because I only have my camera phone at the moment, but I really wanted to do a quick autumn look featuring this unique burnt orange shade in my 32-pan e.l.f. palette.  Although it's an unusual color, I'm really happy with how it turned out!

I covered the whole lid to the crease in the orange shade, then blended a medium brown into the crease and up towards the brow.  I pulled a little of the brown down under my lower lash line, then highlighted my inner corners and browbones in a white-gold.
After lining my eyes in deep brown liquid eyeliner, I applied mascara and false lashes, coral blush, and cool, nude lip gloss.  Done! :)  Easy to do and perfect for autumn.

Baby's Got Blue Eyes & Brief Life Update

This is just a quick look I did featuring the blue contacts I got as a sample months back when I had my last eye exam.  They're plano (non-prescription) so I can't really wear them out and about unfortunately or I'd be blind, but they're so pretty!
Heavy black eyeliner really brings out the blue and I did a fun pink/red lip and pink cheeks to round out the look.  After seeing how these pics turned out, I really want to get some blue prescription circle lenses!  It looks so different and dramatic, but I really like it.

Also, in life news, I started back to school this week.  I'm taking College Writing II and Japanese I.  Obvy I was TOO excited to get the last available slot in the Japanese class!  I've been trying to learn for years now and am really enjoying the class so far.  I feel like with the instructor feedback and opportunity to speak Japanese several times a week, I'll finally learn it! Wish me luck :)

My car broke down a couple weeks ago and I'm on the market for new (or new to me) wheels.  Thanks to everyone who's been driving me around or letting me borrow their car!  Totally can't wait to have my own ride again though.

It's a three-day weekend, so everyone have a good one!  I've got a couple cosmetic reviews coming up, so stay tuned!

Today's Makeup Look - Shimmering Lavender

Here's just a quick makeup look I did awhile back when I was bored.  I love using purple (as I'm sure you can tell by now), so this may be a little similar to past TokyoChel Looks, but I thought it turned out really well.

What's your favorite color of eye shadow to use?  Are you into neutrals or love the bright colors?

Today's Makeup Look - Cool Violet

So last week I picked up this L'Oreal Eye Glosse at a discount store in town and was excited to try it out and possibly review it.  Stay tuned to TokyoChel for the review, but now, onto the tutorial!

I first applied an eyeshadow base, then this L'Oreal Eye Glosse in a light lavender all over my lower lids.  On top of that, I applied a cool, medium purple shadow to the outer third of my lids, an ocean blue to the middle third, and bright white to the inner third.  Blend the three shades together just enough that there aren't distinct lines between the colors, but not so much that you lose the three distinct shades.
Repeat the same process under your lower lashline to balance out the shadows.
Blend the purple shade up into your crease to define the shape, then highlight the browbone with the white.  Next, I applied a black liquid liner to my upper lashline and layered a purple liquid liner above the black line for interest.  After lots of jet black mascara, the eyes are pretty much done.  Add black pencil liner to the lower waterline if you like.

For this look, I used a bubblegum pink blush and a pretty pink lipstick and gloss.  All in all, it's a pretty, summery look that's colorful without being clownish.  What's your go-to look for summer?

Today's Makeup Look - Deep Green Sparkle

It's been quite some time since I posted a makeup look, especially one as different as this.  As you can see by most of my makeup looks, I tend to shy away from very dark colors.  I honestly don't know how to use them effectively for anything other than darkening my crease or outer-v.

But I was feeling adventurous today and started playing around with some of my dark creme and powder shadows, and this is what I came up with.  What do you think?
So first, I covered the outer three-quarters of my lid in a graphite creme shadow by Wet n Wild.  Over that I applied black powder shadow, and blended some up into my crease.  Then, starting at the inner corner, I added a bold kelly green, and swept it from the inner corner into the middle and blended it with the black.
I added some black shadow to outer lower lashline and the kelly green to the inner lower lashline and blended the two together.  Then to blend out the crease, I swept on some graphite-colored shadow.  I highlighted my browbone with a shimmery baby pink.
Whew! This is a long tutorial!  Anyway, instead of using eyeliner on my upper lid, I added some glittering blue-green liquid shadow to add a little pop to the look.  Finish off the eyes with lots of mascara and dark green eyeliner in the lower waterline.
In keeping with the adventurous spirit of this look, I actually spent a lot of time highlighting and contouring my face as well, which I don't normally do.  I swept a matte transluscent powder all over my face to control shine and even it out, then I added a coral-colored blush to the apples of my cheeks and blended it back towards my temples.

I contoured the hollows of my cheeks and the sides of my nose with bronzer to slim the face.  Then I highlighted the bridge of my nose and the tops of my cheekbones with a shimmery pink shadow.
My serious model face lol
All in all, I like how this look turned out, but it was a lot more work than I normally put into my makeup routine.  Long post, no?

Today's Makeup Look - Turquoise Sea Featuring Sally Girl Eyeshadows

I have some beautiful shadows by Sally Girl that I don't use as often as I should.  Their mini baked eyeshadows are super cheap (.99 a piece!) and very pigmented.
So for this look, I decided to try and use all four of the ones I own: a deep bronzy brown, bright tuquoise, metallic silver, and shimmery white (see pic below).
That's Bella laying in the sink behind the shadows lol!
After applying a white cream base, I covered three-quarters of my lid in the turquoise, then added the brown in the outer corner and blended the two colors together in the middle.
After that, I swept the silver into the crease and highlighted my browbone with the white.  Then I drug the brown down under the outer half of my lower lashline, and put some turquoise under the inner half of my lower lashline.
I finished the look with brown liquid eyeliner and lots of mascara.  And since the eyes are rather dramatic, I'm wearing a matte nude pink lipstick and natural blush.  I've never tried a look like this, but overall I think it turned out pretty good.
Official Makeup Mascot, Bella ;)

Today's Makeup Look - Smokey Purple

So I know I haven't done a makeup look in FOREVER, but I've been so distracted with other things in my life right now that I haven't been able to blog quite as much as I'd like.  I've been actively looking for a job for well over a month.  Hopefully my prospects will improve soon.

Anywaaaaaay...for this look, I used a bunch of cosmetics I haven't used in ages.  I think it turned out pretty well.  I coated my whole lid in a light, shimmery base, then placed a silvery-lavender on the inner half of the lid and a pinkish purple (plum) on the outer half of my lids.
I pulled the plum color up into my crease and blended black over it to get a smokier look.  Then I highlighted my inner corners and browbone in the silvery-lavender and drug the plum color down under the outer two-thirds of my lower lash line.

I finished with a pretty purple gel liner over the top lashes and black on my lower waterline.  Add some mascara and some soft, matte pink lipgloss and you're all done!

Products used:  Jordana creme eye shadow stick in 13 April Showers (as a base)
Any shimmery, silvery-lavender eyeshadow
Any plum, or pinkish purple eyeshadow
Any black eyeshadow (I depotted all these shadows awhile ago, so I don't remember their names)

Maybelline The Falsies mascara in Black Drama
Aura Science Shine lip lacquer in Wisper Pink

Today's Makeup Look using Lancome Color Design Palette

Although I used a Lancome eyeshadow palette to create this look, you can definitely use any brand of eyeshadows you have on hand.  I just swept Vue (shimmery gold) over the whole lid, then smoked out the crease with Amethyst Charm (deep matte plum), and blended out the color above the crease with Drama (shimmery purple).

I highlighted my browbone and the inner corner of my eye with Daylight (matte cream color) and brought some more of the Amethyst Charm under my lower lashes. I then lined my eyes with a deep violet liquid eyeliner.  I finished the look with pink cheeks and matte nude lips.
This is a very easy, flattering look to acheive and is perfect for any occassion, from dressy to casual!
Products used:  Lancome Color Design Palette in colors listed above
Avon Perfect Wear Eyewriter in Deep Violet

Fun New Hairstyle For My Birthday!

Mmm...Panera...
My birthday's tomorrow, and to surprise me, Matt and his mom bought me a trip to the Hillsdale Beauty Salon for an awesome hair makeover.  I have so much hair it took almost 4 hours to get it cut, styled, and loaded with gorgeous highlights!  I love the end result!  Perfect for summer.  Now I just need a tan to go with this hair.  Man am I pale! lol
The gals at the salon (Kerry, Jill (the owner), and their mom) were so nice and helpful, and did a great job.  I will definitely go there again.
Afterwards, Cindy and I went to Panera. Yum :)  It was such a nice surpirse!

Today's Makeup Look - Gold, Pink, and Purple

It was a gorgeous day out today, so I was inspired to do a really colorful, cheery look using L'Oreal Hip Shocking Shadow Pigments and NYX Ultra Pearl Mania loose eyeshadows.

I started with a gold base, then placed NYX Yellow Pearl on the inner half of my lids.  I then put a bright pink (Hip Shocking Shadow Pigment in Fiery) on the outer half of my lid and blended the two together in the middle, so there wasn't a harsh line between the colors.
In the crease, I swept NYX True Purple Pearl, and blended it up toward my browbone.  I also brought some of the purple down under my lower lashes. Finally, I highlighted my browbone with a pearly white-pink (Hip Shockig Shadow Pigment in Restless).
Then I added some dark purple liquid eyeliner and false lashes.  Finish with pink cheeks and goldy-pink lips.

Today's Makeup Look - Classicly Understated

Pairing a very neutral, understated eye with bright lips makes for a classic look.  The last time I used this lipstick it was for a pin up style look.  Today, I just did a very clean, casual look that's very easy to achieve.

I simply applied a flesh tone base all over the eyelids, then added an off-white eyeshadow on the inner two thirds of the lid, and a rosy, burgundy shade on the outer third and the crease.  I brought a little of the rosy shade under my lower lash line and tight-lined my upper lid with black eyeliner.  To this neutral look, you can add any bright lipstick without it being over-the-top.

This would be perfect for an interview, a lunch date, or a casual day out with friends :)
(I'm not sure how this happened, but I ended up using some of my more high-end cosmetics for this look, but obviously, you could use any brand you have on hand.)
Products used:  Lancome cream eye base in Nude
Lancome Color Design eye shadows in Latte and Garnet Sensation
Maybelline Line Express eyeliner in Ebony Black (redundant name lol)
Wet n Wild Mega Length mascara in Black
