Today's Makeup Look using Lancome Color Design Palette

Although I used a Lancome eyeshadow palette to create this look, you can definitely use any brand of eyeshadows you have on hand.  I just swept Vue (shimmery gold) over the whole lid, then smoked out the crease with Amethyst Charm (deep matte plum), and blended out the color above the crease with Drama (shimmery purple).

I highlighted my browbone and the inner corner of my eye with Daylight (matte cream color) and brought some more of the Amethyst Charm under my lower lashes. I then lined my eyes with a deep violet liquid eyeliner.  I finished the look with pink cheeks and matte nude lips.
This is a very easy, flattering look to acheive and is perfect for any occassion, from dressy to casual!
Products used:  Lancome Color Design Palette in colors listed above
Avon Perfect Wear Eyewriter in Deep Violet
Maybelline The Falsies mascara in Black Drama
CG Cheekers blush in Classic Pink
L'Oreal Rouge Virtuale lipstick in Matte Opal

Fun New Hairstyle For My Birthday!

Mmm...Panera...
My birthday's tomorrow, and to surprise me, Matt and his mom bought me a trip to the Hillsdale Beauty Salon for an awesome hair makeover.  I have so much hair it took almost 4 hours to get it cut, styled, and loaded with gorgeous highlights!  I love the end result!  Perfect for summer.  Now I just need a tan to go with this hair.  Man am I pale! lol
The gals at the salon (Kerry, Jill (the owner), and their mom) were so nice and helpful, and did a great job.  I will definitely go there again.
Afterwards, Cindy and I went to Panera. Yum :)  It was such a nice surpirse!

Totoro Cookies Too Perfect to Eat!

Via Must Have Cute
I've never yet met a cookie I wouldn't eat (except for anything with walnuts. Yuck), but these amazing Totoro cookies look like they probably took forever to decorate so perfectly.  I would have to save it, no matter how delicious it smelled ;)

Hello Kitty x VANS!!!

Everytime I go to Target, I gaze bitterly at the Hello Kitty shoes for little girls, and say to myself, "Why can't anyone make Hello Kitty shoes for big girls too?"  Well, VANS has heard my desperate plea and responded with this:

I know, right?!  Kawaii beyond belief!  So perfectly Hello Kitty and so perfectly my style.  Apparently they're coming out June 1st, so right in time to be the best belated birthday present for me (May 29th is my bday)!  For more details on these awesome kicks, head on over to nitrolicious.

Today's Makeup Look - Gold, Pink, and Purple

It was a gorgeous day out today, so I was inspired to do a really colorful, cheery look using L'Oreal Hip Shocking Shadow Pigments and NYX Ultra Pearl Mania loose eyeshadows.

I started with a gold base, then placed NYX Yellow Pearl on the inner half of my lids.  I then put a bright pink (Hip Shocking Shadow Pigment in Fiery) on the outer half of my lid and blended the two together in the middle, so there wasn't a harsh line between the colors.
In the crease, I swept NYX True Purple Pearl, and blended it up toward my browbone.  I also brought some of the purple down under my lower lashes. Finally, I highlighted my browbone with a pearly white-pink (Hip Shockig Shadow Pigment in Restless).
Then I added some dark purple liquid eyeliner and false lashes.  Finish with pink cheeks and goldy-pink lips.
Products used:  NYX Ultra Pearl Mania loose eyeshadows in Yellow Pearl and True Purple Pearl
L'Oreal Hip Shocking Shadow Pigments in Fiery and Restless
Avon Perfect Wear eyewriter in Deep Violet
Select Lash lashes in S42 Black
Cover Girl Cheekers blush in Classic Pink

Today's Makeup Look - Classicly Understated

Pairing a very neutral, understated eye with bright lips makes for a classic look.  The last time I used this lipstick it was for a pin up style look.  Today, I just did a very clean, casual look that's very easy to achieve.

I simply applied a flesh tone base all over the eyelids, then added an off-white eyeshadow on the inner two thirds of the lid, and a rosy, burgundy shade on the outer third and the crease.  I brought a little of the rosy shade under my lower lash line and tight-lined my upper lid with black eyeliner.  To this neutral look, you can add any bright lipstick without it being over-the-top.

This would be perfect for an interview, a lunch date, or a casual day out with friends :)
(I'm not sure how this happened, but I ended up using some of my more high-end cosmetics for this look, but obviously, you could use any brand you have on hand.)
Products used:  Lancome cream eye base in Nude
Lancome Color Design eye shadows in Latte and Garnet Sensation
Maybelline Line Express eyeliner in Ebony Black (redundant name lol)
Wet n Wild Mega Length mascara in Black
Estee Lauder Blush All Day in Pink Cloud
Wet n Wild lipstick in 514A (red with blue undertone)

Hauntingly Beautiful Instrumental "Over the Sky" by Tanaki Alison

I found music so beautiful, I had to share it with you!  While watching makeup videos on the lovely Pyonghwaa's Youtube Channel, I was struck by this song in one of her tutorials.  Thankfully, she listed the composer, and I was able to find even more wonderful music by TanakiAlison.

His stuff is so imaginative and uplifting, much of it sounding like it would be perfectly at home in a Studio Ghibli movie! I can't believe he just started writing music late last year!

Says Tanaki, "Music is not just a source of entrainment, it is sacred sounds that bring life to different places, produce different emotions, bring you to different cultures, and it is the only language that everybody understands. I will use any sound it takes to make that come alive."

The best part is, all his songs are so far free to download here at Sound Cloud, so you can make yourself a lovely, relaxing cd like I just did!  His Youtube Channel is here.

Today's Random Kawaii - I can haz teddy bear!

I don't know what's funnier here:  the bizarre expression on kitty's face?  The intense way he's clinging to his bear?  The way he's just sitting on the couch like a person?  Or the crazy ugly design on the that blanket/throw thingy lol
